University of Benin is a non-profit public higher education institution located in Ugbowo, Edo State.

The university was founded in 1970.
The university has been officially accredited and/or recognized by the National Universities Commission , Nigeria.

The university offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study.

The University collaborates with other universities around the world and with both local and international bodies such as USAID, Ford Foundation, UNCF (United Negro College Fund), RMRDC (Raw Materials Research & Development Council of Nigeria) amongst others in the areas of Agriculture, Public Health and Engineering.

UNIBEN also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, as well as administrative services.

SEMESTER.

07/01/2018 – New Students come into
residence for 2017/2018 academic session.

08/01/2018 Clearance begins for new students.

14/01/2018 – Old students come into
residence.

15/01/2018 – Lectures begin for all students for first semester of 2017/2018 Academic Session.

16/02/2018 – Deadline for registration and payment of school charges/fees for 2017/2018 academic session.

03/03/2018 – Matriculation (8 weeks after resumption).

06/04/2018 – End of 1 semester lectures for 2017/2018 Academic Session (14 weeks).

09/04/2018 – 13/04/2018 – Revision (one week).

16/04/2018 – Examinations begin in Faculties of Education/Pharmacy/Engineering/Life Sciences/Physical Sciences/Environmental Sciences.
